For potters, mold making is invaluable because it allows them to slip-cast identical multiples of their work. This workshop offers an opportunity to make your own two piece plaster mold from an object of your choice.
This workshop is designed for people with clay experience who want to expand their ceramic knowledge and skills. No experience of mold-making or slip-casting is required, but a general understanding of clay, its properties and glazing are important.
Participants will be guided step by step through each process. People who want to refresh their mold-making and casting skills are also welcome.
You will be taught the basics of plaster mold-making, how to set up your mold, how to correctly mix and pour plaster followed by making your own slip for casting, removing the mold and finally finishing your piece.
